St. John Bosco finishes No. 1 in the final regular-season Top 25 rankings

Here is the final regular-season Top 25 SBLive high school football rankings for the CIF Southern Section for the 2023 season.

1. St. John Bosco (9-1)

The Braves defeated Orange Lutheran to lock up the Trinity League title, 44-22, and clinch the top seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. Caleb Sanchez threw for six touchdowns.

2. Mater Dei (9-1)

The Monarchs beat Santa Margarita 35-19 and will be the No. 2 seed in the Division 1 playoffs.

3. Corona Centennial (8-2)

The Huskies defeated Norco 55-0 thanks to four TD passes from Husan Longstreet Thursday night.

4. Sierra Canyon (10-0)

The Trailblazers won its second straight Mission League title with a 44-6 win over Chaminade. The Trailblazers are headed to the Division 1 playoffs for the first time ever.

5. Long Beach Poly (9-1)

Jackrabbits win another Moore League title with a 56-14 win over LB Jordan.

6. San Clemente (9-1)

The Tritons topped Tesoro 38-24 and finish the 2023 campaign with one loss to Murrieta Valley. San Clemente is the South Coast League champion.

7. Gardena Serra (7-3)

The Cavs routed Alemany 48-7 to finish second in the Mission League. Cincere Rhaney scored three TDs in the victory.

8. Orange Lutheran (5-5)

Despite a 44-22 loss to St. John Bosco, the Lancers are still a bonafide Division 1 playoff team.

9. Rancho Cucamonga (9-1)

The Cougars finish the season one win away from an undefeated regular season, falling to Upland 17-14, however they did enough to earn a share of the Baseline League title.

10. JSerra (5-5)

The Lions rolled Servite in a 49-0 rout.

11. Mission Viejo (7-3)

The Diablos blow by Capistrano Valley, 52-6

12. Los Alamitos (8-2)

The Griffins won the Sunset League with a 21-10 win over Edison.

13. Oaks Christian (8-2)

The Lions finally get over the St. Bonaventure hump, winning 13-10 to capture the Marmonte League. Kicker Noah LaBerge made two field goals from 29 and 34 yards.

14. Servite (5-5)

Despite a bad loss to end the season, the Friars are much improved after a 1-9 season last year.

15. Oxnard Pacifica (10-0)

The Tritons go the distance, finishing undefeated, after topping Oxnard High 42-14.

16. Palos Verdes (10-0)

The Sea Kings have the season of a lifetime under coach Guy Gardner, going 10-0, after beating rival Peninsula 48-7 to win the Bay League title. Now we see how they’ll fare in the Division 2 playoffs.

17. Upland (8-2)

Maybe the most slept on program in SoCal, Upland edged Rancho Cucamonga 17-14 in the final week of the season to earn a share of the Baseline League title.

18. Warren (8-2)

The Bears take down Compton, 50-6, to lock up the Gateway League.

19. Valencia (9-1)

The Vikings are back on top in the Foothill League, taking down Canyon 38-0. Valencia’s only loss was to Rancho Cucamonga.

20. Murrieta Valley (7-3)

The Nighthawks avoid a three-game losing skid with a 35-21 win over Vista Murrieta and finish third in the Big West (Upper) League.

Chaparral beat Roosevelt with no time left on a unique free kick rule with no time left.

21. Damien (8-2)

The Spartans lose two in a row to end the season and now their playoff fate is in question.

22. Villa Park (9-1)

Villa Park defeated Brea Olinda 57-6. The win gives it a share of the Crestview League title with Foothill.

23. Chaparral (7-3)

Pumas edged Eastvale Roosevelt 59-57 with an unusual free kick with five seconds left to win the game and earn second place in the Big West (Upper) League.

24. Loyola (5-5)

The Cubs finish the season strong with a four-game winning streak, including a 27-6 win over Cathedral in Week 10. The Angelus League title gives Loyola a promotion to the Mission League next season.
